Letter to John Penrose MP, MP for Weston-super-Mare

Sent this morning with a copy of the Fracking Report attached

The Rt Hon John Penrose

MP for Weston-super-Mare
Dear Mr Penrose,
I am a freelance journalist specialising in climate change and clean energy. As such, I am most definitely averse to hydraulic fracturing (fracking) and thus I am particularly horrified that South Western Energy currently own licensing blocks in North Somerset within which they will seek permission to sink exploratory drilling wells within the next two years.
Although I am primarily a journalist, for this reason I am assisting a local campaign group (Frack Free North Somerset) which aims to raise public awareness in North Somerset, and particularly Weston-super-Mare and the Brean and Burnham areas (likely to be targeted first), with regard to the dangers of fracking.
One of my first activities in this regard was to write a basic, but thorough, report on the dangers of fracking. This is attached with this email for your information. I would politely invite you to read it and let me know your thoughts on the matter.
Both myself and, no doubt, Frack Free North Somerset, would further invite you to do everything in your power to stop fracking being conducted in North Somerset, and instead attempt to encourage the deployment of renewable energy technologies in the area as a suitable alternative.
I look forward to hearing from you on this very important, and actually fairly urgent, matter.
Thanks and best wishes
Robin Whitlock
